Final Fantasy Ultimania Archive Volume 1 covers the first six Final Fantasy games, only three of which were originally released in North America. Physical quality is high: the binding is stitched and the paper quality is worthy of an art book. Props to Dark Horse. The overall content and layout is geared toward nostalgia, but that takes nothing away from the beautiful artwork. See the linked video for my full review (duration two minutes & 36 seconds).

That does look very nice… and wouldn’t be nostalgia for me, since I’m only just now playing through those games (Currently on III).
Thanks for pointing it out!
Glad to hear it was useful. Between Final Fantasy 2 and 3, which have you enjoyed more so far? I’ve still only ever played the older North America releases (1, 4, and 6). Though, after getting this book I did get a copy of 2 for my phone, which I have yet to try out.
This looks gorgeous, and so cheap!
The video was nice, though I think it would have worked better if the camera was pointed at a table while you flipped pages. Or–better yet–if you put photographs of the relevant pages next to your face in editing, rather than trying to hold the book up.
Split screen with images on one side seems like a good idea. I have in total over my life about 15 minutes experience with video editing, and 5 minutes of those were waiting for iMovie to download on my tablet last Friday. I’ll play around with some editing for the next video maybe.
It’s surprising how difficult it is to do even very simple stuff, right? At least it is when you’re just starting to figure things out, which is where I’m at too.
Placing an image next to a video sure seems like it ought to be simple, though.
I always appreciate your non-RPG book reviews. Thanks to you, 100 Views of Edo is of my favorite pieces in my art book library, and it looks like this volume will be joining it.
